Performance review Fy 2023/4
- 3,955 household were visited and supported with extension services.
- A farmer’s study tour to Rukingiri District under the UgFIT program was done.
- Carried out food security and nutrition analysis under the support of World Food Program, FAO and world vision.
- Planting materials were distributed to farmers in the Sub counties of Biguli and Kamwenge (Hass Avocadoes 2500 seedlings), 2300 Macademia seedlings were distributed to Town Councils of Kamwenge and Bigodi.
- 50 boxes of Imidacroprid Pesticide for controlling coffee twig borer and other pests were received from UCDA and distributed to farmers in all Sub counties.
- Three hundred twenty three trainings in Good Agronomic Practices were conducted.
- 207 supervisory visits were conducted in all Lower Local Governments.
- 171 Farmer organizations operating along the value chain were profiled and registered
- Monitoring of farmers who installed UGFIT micro scale irrigation systems. During the visit, 6 farmers were visited and all there systems were functional. It was found that farmers had acquired knowledge on operation, and could practically demonstrate operations of the irrigation equipment to the monitoring team. The farmers who were visited include; Byarugaba Eris –Nkoma Katalyeba Town Council, Karimba Amoni Fred –Kahunge Sub County, Kabagambe Zari- Kahunge Sub County, Bilyomumisho Samuel – Bwizi sub county, Asiimwe Utida Kahunge sub county, Nkoba Jane –Kamwenge Town Council, Turyatemba Jack Kamwenge Sub county.
- We conducted a field day in Kabambiro Sub county
- 400 Litres of Dudu Cyper Pesticide and 50 tons of NPK maize blended fertilizer were received from IIRR and distributed to farmers in 7 sub counties of Bwizi, Biguli T/C, Kahunge Sub county, Kabambiro, Kamwenge Sub county, Kamwenge Town Council, and Nkoma Sub County .
- 198 kg of Copper Nordox were received from UCDA and distributed to farmers in all Sub counties.
- Connection of three phase power to Nkoma ACE maize milling machine.
- 100 farm visits were conducted to farmers who expressed interest in UgFIT micro scale irrigation
- A batch of 54 farmers was submitted to procurement for support under UgFIT micro-scale irrigation.
- We received from MAAIF two motorcycles and provided them to Agriculture Officers of Kabambiro Sub county and Biguli Town Council.
- We conducted a training for 20 village agents to participate in the maize value chain at the District headquarters.
- We distributed 1000 tarpaulins on a cofunding basis to farmers of Kabambiro, Bwizi , Nkoma , Nkoma Katalyba and Biguli with support from Kakinga millers
- 22 Community Based Facilitators were trained in Farmer Field Business School with Support from Care international.
- 20 farmers were trained in maize and dairy value chain with support from FAO at National Farmers Leadership Center Kampiringisa
- 1,333 successful Expression of interest under UgIFT
- MAAIF pre-qualified suppliers for Kamwenge District Cluster one that includes Kamwenge District was allocated with 15 pre-qualified suppliers.

ENTOMOLOGY SECTOR
- . Conducted 2 tsetse fly surveysin Kamwenge Sub countyBujongobe along Kibale National Park.
- Conducted ten trainings in value addition of bee hive products in Nkoma and Katalyeba town council, Kyabandara and Bigodi TC, Mahangye and Kihoima Bigodi
- Conducted 6 supervisory and advisory visits to Bee Keepers in Kahunge and Busiriba Sub counties.
- Raised 10 Pyramidal tsetse traps in Kyabandara.
FISHERIES SECTOR
- Supervised stocking of fish fingerlings (Tilapia) for Kinoni fish farmers group in Kahunge Sub County.
- Conducted two trainings for two fish farmers’ groups; Kabala and Keishunga fish farmers groups in Biguli Town Council.
- Visited and advised 20 fish farmers in Bigodi Town Council, Bwizi Sub County and Nkoma Sub County
- Conducted monitoring and supervision of staff and progress of fish farmers in Kahunge and Busiriba Sub Counties.
- 11 fish farmers were mobilized and supervised to rehabilitate their fish ponds for restocking and as a result 17ponds were prepared.
- Collection annual fisheries production data and submitted to the directorate of fisheries resources aquaculture unit. The district sold 6,946 tons of tilapia and 7,991 tons of catfish for the year 2022.
- Monitored water quality parameters, oxygen levels and carbon dioxide for twenty fish ponds in greater Kahunge and standards required level.
